What's new in Check-in
Each change to Check-in, newest first, in plain words, with a link to how it works.
Updated 13 October 2026
New things sometimes start in Settings → Trying out. They're switched off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off again whenever you like. The full guide is How to use Check-in.
13 October 2026 · The wheel is big again
More wheel, less card. The morning and evening check-ins are now a small button in the corner beside the wheel, instead of a card above it, so the wheel is back to its full size and starts right under the week. Your intention for the day sits in the same corner. On the first step of a check-in, Not today puts the invitation away. How they work
13 October 2026 · Easier on your iPhone
Morning and evening check-ins scroll again. A long morning check-in no longer gets stuck: the page scrolls, and Cancel and Done are always at the top. The evening is now three short steps, with Next and Back. How they work
No more "value to live" in the morning. The morning check-in is just "Today, I will…" and your habits. Values you picked before are kept in your export.
Bigger buttons, and a way back from every screen. Small buttons are easier to tap, and every screen and sheet has a clear way back to Check in.
13 October 2026 · Free for founding members, with no AI, and crisis lines on your phone
Founding members. Everyone who joins now is a founding member: everything in Check-in stays free for you for as long as it runs, even if paid plans come later for new people. The terms
Check-in is free, with no AI. The free app no longer includes the AI second view. Nothing you write goes to an AI. A second view you saved before stays with its check-in. A second view
Crisis lines whenever you need them. If you save words that suggest you might be in danger, Check-in shows how to reach 1737 (call or text) and 111 straight away. It's checked on your phone, nothing is sent anywhere, and it shows once for each check-in. Getting help
13 October 2026 · Goals, habits, and morning and evening check-ins
Goals and habits. A new Goals screen for small steps in the directions that matter to you.
- Make a theme, like Health or Family, and link it to your values.
- Add habits to build, ticked on the days you do them, and things to do once, ticked when they're done.
- Today's goals show up inside each check-in, so you can tick them off as you go.
- A strength bar instead of a fragile streak. Missing a day only lets it dip a little, and rest days never count against you.
- When a habit's time is up, decide whether it feels established, or give it more time.
How goals and habits work · Why it's built this way
Trying out: morning and evening check-ins. A minute in the morning to set the day ("Today, I will…" and one value to live), and a few minutes in the evening to close it. Each picks up where the other left off. Switch it on in Settings → Trying out. How they work
Trying out: habit runs. See how many days in a row you've kept a habit going, with a bigger moment at a week, a month and day 66, and a warm welcome when you come back after a gap. Switch it on in Settings → Trying out. How runs work
