The skills behind a check-in
- Name it to tame it: using the Feeling Wheel
Putting a feeling into words can take some heat out of it. The wheel helps you find the word, from the outside in or the inside out.
- Where do you feel it?
Feelings show up in the body. Learning where, and what it's like (tight, heavy, buzzing), gives you an early, honest signal.
- Holding a feeling without being swept away
You can stay with a feeling at a level you can handle, steady yourself, and then gently put it away until you're ready.
- Feelings move, and that's a good sign
Feelings and body sensations rarely stay still. Checking in again later lets you see the shift, a sign you're processing, not stuck.
- Your own scale: noticing where you are
A scale centred on 0, in your own words. Over time it shows your usual range, your streaks, and early signs worth paying attention to.
- Living your values: a mirror, not a score
Notice which of your values showed up in how you responded, and which didn't. It's information, never a grade.
- Goals and habits: small steps in the directions that matter
Themes tied to your values, habits you tick on the days you do them, and one-off things you tick once. Built for steady progress, not perfect streaks.
